ILab--The NetWorld+Interop Interoperability Laboratory
------------------------------------------------------
Interop Company is pleased to announce the availability of a special
demonstration area for the NetWorld+Interop 94 conference in Las
Vegas, May 2 - 6, 1994.
The Interoperability Lab (ILab) provides researchers and developers
with the opportunity to demonstrate work-in-progress systems in a
specially-equipped network environment. The ILab will be connected to
both the INTEROPnet and the Internet. Demonstrations are expected to
use this connectivity!
All NetWorld+Interop conference, tutorial, and workshop delegates
may visit the ILab. The operation of the ILab is simple: each
participant gives a 15 minute technical presentation, at intervals
during the day. This is followed by "live demonstrations".
There is no fee for participation in the ILab, though each participant
is responsible for providing their own equipment, shipping, and so on.
Interop will provide an electric socket for power, and an RJ-45 socket
for a basic UTP Ethernet connection.
Demonstrations must deal with distributed applications, e.g., video
conferencing, distributed database access, resource discovery tools,
etc. The ILab is primarily intended as a proving ground for emerging
technologies and systems. Emphasis on products, availability and
pricing is not allowed.
If you have a "network aware" application that is *not* a shipping
product and would like an opportunity to show it publicly and test it
against other systems, please send a brief description along with
contact information to: ILab@interop.com by 25 October, 1993. Interop
Company will select up to 15 demonstrations and announce all
participants by 1 Feb 1994.
